Welcome to Cantera Cattle Company at Old Gringo Ranch. We’re a small family operated ranch in Wichita Falls, Texas, the cultural center of the universe! I hope you’ll come back to visit us from time to time.
The name of our place is Old Gringo Ranch- that’s me, the Old Gringo. Even though I will gladly own up to being a grumpy old man, I’m all about family and thankful to have Kathy, my lovely bride by my side along with my kids and grand kids.
Our longhorn operation is named Cantera Cattle Company. Part of the ranch sets on the remnants of an old sandstone quarry from long ago. Cantera is the Spanish word for quarry so there you go. It has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
When we got into this, I remember telling my son, Bryan “If we’re going to do this, I want to do it right”. So we set out to establish a foundation herd that has some of the absolute strongest and most sought after bloodlines in the industry. We won’t ever be the biggest breeder in the industry, but my hope is that people will hear about us and think “Oh yeah, they’ve got a great program with some awesome cows”.
